Gianfranco Zola

Gianfranco Zola was born July 5, 1966 in Oliena, Sardinia.Zola signed his first professional contract with Sardinian team Nuorese in 1984. Five years later he signed for Serie A side, Napoli where as an understudy to Maradona scored two goals.
In 1996, Zola was signed by Ruud Gullit for Chelsea F.C. He won the FA Cup with Chelsea and was voted the English Football Writers' Player of the Year in 1997. He helped Chelsea win the League Cup, European Cup Winners' Cup and Super Cup in 1998 and again aided Chelsea to win FA Cup in 2000. Zola won 35 international caps scoring eight goals. He won his first international cap in November 1991. He last played in World Cup qualifier against England in Rome in October 1997. In 2003 Gianfranco was voted as the best ever player for the team by the Chelsea fans. He was awarded an OBE in November 2004 - Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire in a ceremony in Rome. Zola left Chelsea for Cagliari, a club from his native Sardinia in 2003, helping them win promotion to Serie A. He finally hung up his boots in 2005.
This bust of the Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is of an edition limited to only 100 pieces. The statue which stands at 14 inches on it's mahogany base is approximatelt 2/3 life size and is cast in resin bronze by the artists own hand to ensure a work of the highest quality. Each piece is etched with the edition number and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. Attached to the base is a brass plaque with the enscription "ZOLA".
