Born in Ballymote in south County Sligo in 1840, Brother Walfrid was the religious name chosen by the Marist Brother Andrew Kearns, the founder of Celtic football Club. The club was founded in 1888 as a means of raising funds for the poor and deprived in the east end of Glasgow.

 

This work is a certified edition of only 150 pieces. It is the centrepiece of a growing collection of pieces depicting figures from the history of Celtic football Club. It stands on a mahogany plinth at an impressive 16 inches high and is cast in resin-bronze and hand patinated by the artist.On the plinth is a brass plaque bearing the inscription "Brother Walfrid - The Father of Celtic F.C."
